Endodontic Dental Care

  • Endodontic Therapy (root canal therapy)
  • Apicoectomy

Endodontic dental care is the treatment of the nerves inside your teeth.  One type of treatment is Endodontic Therapy or root canal therapy which treats decay when it reaches the root of the tooth.  In this procedure, the doctor will remove the nerve within the tooth and replace it with material to restore the empty nerve chamber.  Sometimes, even after root canal treatment, infected tissue can remain in the nerve canals, which can prevent healing or cause re-infection later.  In this case an apicoectomy is performed, during which the root tip, or apex, is removed along with the infected tissue.  A filling is then placed to seal the end of the root.
